My Practice

I trust wholeheartedly that for each of us ‘the wisdom is within’. I believe that what helps is not the direction of the counsellor for the client, but the counsellor’s willingness and ability to provide an environment without threat or judgement, and which is accepting and deeply respecting of another’s way of being.

To be Person Centred is to strive to understand all that a person is and brings, that they might understand themselves. I have faith in the power of the therapeutic alliance and the quality of that relationship and an unwavering belief in the client’s worth and ability to find their own way given the right conditions to do so.

I work as a private counsellor with individuals, couples and families and also undertake freelance counselling work for a number of commercial and charitable organisations.

I offer supervision to both experienced and newly qualified counsellors as well as providing supervision to groups.

I deliver Person Centred training working with Expressive Media , Working with Families in the Person Centred Approach and facilitating Personal Development groups.

More recently I have realised a long term aspiration to become involved in Animal Assisted Therapy. I have two therapy dogs who are part way through their training to work within groups, i.e. schools and hospices, and with individuals within my own counselling room.

I hold senior accredited status with BACP which means that I adhere to the BACP ethical framework, carry appropriate insurance, am clinically supervised and undertake a minimum of 30 hours continuing professional development (CPD) each year.

My practice is based in Blackburn with easy access from the motorway network and from the town centre with convenient parking. I am on a main bus route and two minutes’ walk away from the local train station.
